Music Styles

Picture of John (2005) I don’t use Midi-files at all when playing, and all musical/vocal parts are produced live.

My current style of music continues to include a considerable collection of country/ rock/ Latin music and easy listening pops, and this has proved to be satisfactory for most hotel/club venues. However, more recently I have been playing an increased amount of strict-tempo dance music to meet the growing demand for Ballroom Dancing. This shift has been reasonably painless though, since I already possess an extensive range of Quicksteps, Tangos, and Rumbas from my Dinner/Dance days.

At Colville Park, 2005 Another dance fashion very popular at present is ‘Sequence Dancing’, particularly among the growing number of afternoon ‘Tea Dancers’.

Tea Dance events usually call for a combination of Ballroom, Social and Sequence Dances to be played. Since I am currently retained by a number of local authorities to provide music for monthly tea dances in various town halls, it has been necessary to add a collection of the most requested sequence dances to my repertoire. This is part of an on-going effort on my part to keep everybody happy. (Yes, I have heard it said that it is impossible, but I keep trying!)
